Rachel, 24 works in Advertising and lives in central London. Hypnotherapy helped her to quit smoking. - Zest Magazine, May 1999

I tried giving up six times before but the longest I held out for was a week and a half. It was always nail-biting tough and I could never maintain my resolve. I began to hate myself everytime I lit up, so I knew I had to take more drastic action. Then a woman at work who'd smoked 60 a day gave up after going to see hypnotherapist Susan Hepburn for one session, and I thought it was worth a try'.

'I was terrified about the whole hypnotherapy process, especially about relinquishing my self control to someone else, but Susan explained that she would have no control over me whatsoever'.'Afterwards I certainly didn't feel any different but then I didn't feel the need to smoke, either. When I got home, I threw away all the cigarettes I had'.

'During the first week, I didn't smoke but I was a little obsessed by the fact that I wasn't smoking. As the days passed, not smoking just became a natural part of my life - I didn't even have that empty, unsatisfied feeling I'd had when I tried to give up before. And I didn't have to avoid smoky situations or stop going out, either. Four months on, I cannot remember what it felt like to smoke or why I ever felt the need to do so'.

'The benefits of having given up are enormous: my skin is clearer; I don't get breathless climbing the three flights of stairs to my office, and my hair and clothes smell better. Giving up smoking has given me a really huge confidence boost - I still get a rush of elation at the thought'.

Marylebone Journal 2009

On my first meeting with Susan Hepburn a hypnotherapist I was immediately struck by how easy it was to get along with her. It is of course, one of the many skills needed in her line of work. She has to make her client's feel at ease in order to prepare them for their session.

Many people worry about losing control when under hypnosis but according to Susan, the client is always in control and can stop the treatment at any point during the session. With most problems the solution comes from within the person themselves and during hypnosis, the ideas are reinforced and become part of one's normal thinking.

She has practiced hypnotherapy for over 20 years treating a varied range of problems with people of all ages. I was amazed to discover that she also treats the profoundly deaf, who can it seems be hypnotized by lip reading and she has had a number of successes in this field. Her portfolio of services focuses on health, quality of life, positive mental attitude, enhanced personal performance and self achievement and she invariably deals with a number of problems within the same session.

Susan modestly says that she acts only as a catalyst for people's desires to achieve specific results, helping them to rediscover their natural inner strengths and resources. You can tell she thoroughly enjoys her work and loves to see people get good results.
